MAHA UK is delighted to announce that Autosport International, one of Europe’s largest motorsport festivals, will be the launchpad of its new and pioneering dynamometer.
Wisbech, Cambridgeshire – 12th December 2022 The MSR 5000 series will be unveiled and on display alongside a MAHA-liveried Chameleon Motorsport TCR UK Cupra and MA STAR 3.5 A workshop lift.
MAHA has been a long-standing and trusted partner to vehicle performance centres, motorsport teams and racetracks worldwide, to generate accurate and consistent results in terms of performance measurements, tuning and diagnostics.
Compared to previous models, the MSR 5000 has been enhanced to guarantee further stiffness within the chassis, making it stronger and more accurate. It also meets both existing and future requirements, with modifications made to suit hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as those with internal combustion engines.
Improvements across the board
Defined acceleration rates with a ‘hard start’ will allow lower RPM torque measurement and improved heat management. Ultimately, this will offer users the same repeatability in the start phase of the test as that in the higher RPM section.
The MSR 5000 comes with a 30kW motor as standard, with the option of 37kW, which generates higher speed testing than previous models – 186mph and 217mph respectively – allowing even the fastest hypercars to run on this dynamometer.
Users will be able to run bespoke modes for hybrid and electric vehicles; a temperature-controlled boost function for the eddy current brakes, especially in the low-speed range, will allow 7,000N traction per retarder – totalling 28,000N with the four-brake version.
There is also the option of extra brake force application, via the e-drive system, at up to 50mph, so the four-wheel drive synchronisation response will be faster when experiencing high-tensile forces when accelerating at the start of the test.
A new tablet control system with e-stop, optional light barrier for more accurate RPM measurement and more data in overlaid tests are just some of the other features and benefits of this new ground-breaking performance solution.
Louis Tunmore, MAHA UK’s chassis dynamometer expert, is eager to highlight the new equipment to motorsport professionals when Autosport International (Engineering) gets underway at the NEC on Thursday 12th January and runs to Friday 13th January.
